A great cake recipe for any occasion:

Germ and 1 tsp. sugar in a tbsp. Warm water to melt.

Add flour, melted butter and a little salt. gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a tea towel and let rise in a warm place for about 3 min.

Make three glasses of sugar and three glasses of water for 15 min until a thin syrup. Heat oil in a frying pan.

Form balls of the dough between your index finger and thumb. Pick up the balls with an oiled spoon and shape them in the heated oil.

Bake the balls until golden brown. Drain on greaseproof paper for a minute, then dip in the cooled syrup, stirring a few times so that the syrup is well absorbed.

Serve warm or possibly cooled.
