For American wreath cake, cream butter until thick, add sugar, vanilla sugar and a little salt. Fold in eggs one at a time.

Add cinnamon and stir until sugar is dissolved. Combine flour and baking powder and fold in. Add walnuts and apples as well and mix everything together well.

Bake the dough in a greased wreath pan at 180 degrees for 80 minutes.

Mix the powdered sugar and rum together and then pour over the cake.
