Drain the curd well in a sieve. In the meantime, separate the eggs, mix the egg yolks with 125 g sugar, vanilla sugar and lemon zest until very creamy.

Later fold in the cinnamon and mix with the curd cheese. Mix the semolina with the baking powder and fold into the curd mixture. Whip the egg whites until stiff and fold into the curd mixture.

Grease a gratin dish and sprinkle with 1 tbsp. sugar. Pour the mixture into the mold, smooth it out, and evenly distribute the walnut halves on top.

Sprinkle the remaining sugar over the casserole and top with butter flakes. Bake in the oven heated to 200 °C for about 60 minutes.

Serve the cooked casserole while it is still hot. But it is also delicious when cooled down. Strawberry or other fruit compote tastes great with it.
