Instructions:

To prevent the meat from bending upward, first cut off the corners. Butter become steaming hot, then quickly roast the steaks on both sides until brown, remove from the stove and keep warm. Add onions to cooking pot and roast until golden brown, remove from stove, keep warm.

Heat additional butter in saucepan, add apple slices and cook until done, remove from heat and keep warm. Sprinkle sugar over liquid in saucepan, make until dissolved. Add whiskey and stir through with sauce in saucepan.

Sprinkle in flour, make 1 minute, pour in chicken soup, stir all together until smooth. Allow sauce to bubble up and thicken, add seasoning. Add whipped cream just before serving.

Arrange smoked ham on a serving platter, pour sauce over meat. Place fried onions and apple slices on top. Serve with mashed potatoes and cabbage. (Only pieces of leg are called “ham”, all other pieces are called “bacon”. “Gammon” is a thick slice of “ham” steak).

Tip: Always use a flavorful ham, it adds a wonderful touch to your dish!
