Instructions:

For the pear cake, cream butter with sugar and vanilla sugar. Slowly add eggs and also beat until fluffy. Stir in hazelnuts, mix flour with baking powder, add and flavor with a pinch of cinnamon and cocoa powder.

Butter a suitable loaf pan and pour in the mixture. Peel and core the pears and cut them into wedges. If desired, poach briefly in boiling sugar water and drain. Spread pears on pastry with flesh side up.

For the crumble, quickly crumble butter between fingers with flour, vanilla and granulated sugar, and a good pinch of cinnamon. Sprinkle over the pears and bake the cake at 180°C for 55 to 65 minutes, depending on the size of the pan. Lift out, let cool and divide the pear cake into portions before serving.
