A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Make a shortcrust pastry with sugar, butter, egg yolks, flour and cream. Cover and let it rest until the subsequent preparation is ready.

Roughly dice the figs, chop the nuts and almond kernels not too finely and mix with the figs in a baking bowl. Stir in the flour, sugar and the beaten egg whites.

Roll out the dough and place it on a buttered aluminum foil. Spread the fig and nut mixture on the dough and roll it up. Press the ends of the foil well smooth. Bake the roll in the oven at 180 to 200 degrees for about 60 minutes. While warm, sprinkle granulated sugar over the foil, carefully turning to the other side. Cool and cut into slices.
