Instructions:

For the almond-date slices, toast the almonds briefly in a pan WITHOUT oil and chop. Cut the dates into small pieces and bring to the boil with the lemon juice and water in a saucepan.

Remove from heat and mix with the almonds and 1 tablespoon honey. Allow to cool. Preheat the oven to about 200 °C. For the dough, mix butter, sugar and flour until crumbles form.

Then add enough water to make a soft dough. Be careful: the dough must not become sticky. Divide the dough into two halves and roll out on a floured surface into roughly equal-sized sheets.

Place one of the sheets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the filling on top, but leave some room around the edges to seal. Place the second pastry sheet on top and press the edges down.

Now brush with milk or an egg and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. While it is still hot, brush with the remaining honey. Let cool and then cut into slices.
