Instructions:

For the Amish cake, first prepare the dough. For the dough, quickly knead flour, salt, butter and margarine in pieces, and water with your hands until you have a smooth, elastic dough.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 190 °C. Roll out the dough and place it in a greased shallow baking pan or springform pan, making a rim of about 3-4 cm high.

Bake in the oven for 6-10 minutes. Let cool.

For the filling, boil the water. Add salt and baking powder, stir in the honey. Let cool. Pour the honey mixture on the dough base.

For the crumble, mix flour with cane sugar. Work butter into it with a fork to make crumbles. Spread the crumble on the cake and bake for another 25-30 minutes.

If the filling is not yet firm, bake the Amish cake for another 10 minutes if necessary.
