For the apple dumplings, peel the apples and cut into cubes. Mix flour with apple cubes, raisins and candied orange peel. Heat the milk and dissolve the yeast in it and add the lemon juice.

Knead all ingredients to a firm dough and let it rise for about 1 hour. Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 140 °C and use a tablespoon to make dumplings from the dough. Put them into the hot oil. Bake for approx. 3 minutes, swimming all around.

Sprinkle the apple dumplings with sugar and serve while still warm.
