Bacon and Onion Sandwiches

Instructions:

In a frying pan, toast the sunflower seeds (1). Remove the peel from the onions, finely dice them. Finely dice bacon and render. Sauté onion cubes in bacon fat until translucent. Season with thyme (1). Let yeast dissolve in water. Add sifted wheat flour and spices, knead for 10 min. Add oil and sifted rye flour. Continue kneading until dough separates from edge of bowl. Knead in sunflower seeds (1), bacon and onions. Cover and let rise for 40 min. Knead well again. Preheat stove to 200 °C. Shape into flat patties.

Brush with egg yolk, sprinkle with remaining sunflower seeds (2) and thyme (2). Let rise again for 20 min. Bake on top for about half an hour.

Our tip: Use a deliciously spicy bacon for a delicious touch!
