Try this delicious cake recipe:

Boil the water with the butter as well as the salt in a saucepan over medium heat.

While doing this, let the butter melt, but do not make the liquid longer than necessary so that not too much of the water evaporates.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and on the spot, pour in the flour all at once (not little by little!). Fold in well with a wooden spoon until the liquid has combined with the flour.

Later, return the saucepan to the hob and reheat the dough over very low heat. Keep stirring with the wooden spoon so that the mixture gets evenly hot and does not burn.

After a short time, about one minute, the dough will form a smooth dumpling while stirring and will detach itself from the bottom of the pot. This process is called “burning off”, which is why the dough got its name.

Form the dough into a wide bowl, beat the first egg and fold it in on the spot. The egg does not combine on the spot, but only after a short mixing time with the hot dough to a smooth amount.

Cool the batter until it is at most lukewarm. Then gradually fold in the remaining eggs with the dough hooks of the mixer. Stir in the baking powder with the last egg.

The dough will be hearty yellow, smooth and shiny.
