For the Belgian waffles, put the flour in a large enough bowl, make an indentation in the center and crumble the yeast into it.

Heat the milk, pour some of it over the yeast and dissolve the yeast in it. Leave to rise for a short time with the lid closed. When the yeast mixture starts to bubble, add the remaining milk and the vanilla sugar and stir everything together well.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, separate the egg, put the egg yolks in a baking bowl and stir them with the butter.

Add to the risen dough and whisk everything together well. Cover the dough and let it rise for 20 minutes. Whisk the egg whites until very stiff and fold in gently.

Heat the waffle iron on speed 3, grease at the beginning and after every second waffle and bake golden brown waffles. Leave to cool slightly and dust the Belgian waffles with powdered sugar.
