A cake recipe for all foodies:

Syrup (sugar beet syrup, also called turnip greens), sugar and fat (I used butter, but light butter will probably work too) are put into a saucepan and made lukewarm in a leisurely fashion. Stir while doing this. The butter melts and the whole must give a homogeneous, thin liquid.

The dough is rolled out thinly and cookies are cut out with molds. They go on a greased baking sheet. I baked according to the instructions of my stove with 130 to 140 °C and convection oven for about 15 minutes. Be careful, the color hardly changes during cooking. If it does turn dark or blackish brown, it’s actually already too late. After baking, place the peppernuts on a broiler to cool and then in a tightly sealed tin.

You can also mix chopped almonds into the dough.
