Instructions:

Cream melted, cooled butter with sugar, vanilla sugar, salt and egg yolks until very fluffy.

Add cream and lemon juice, mix in flour mixed with baking powder. Finally, fold in the beaten egg whites.

Pour the dough onto a well-greased baking tray or one lined with baking paper.

For the curd mixture, cream butter with sugar, vanilla sugar and egg yolks until very fluffy, mix in curd, then fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Spread the curd mixture on the sponge mixture.

Mix the chopped apples with sugar and cinnamon and spread on the curd mixture.

Bake the cake at 170 °C for about 35 minutes. To prevent the apples from browning too much, cover slightly with baking paper if necessary.

After cooling, divide into slices and sprinkle with powdered sugar as desired.
