Instructions:

For dirty Halloween rats, first mix flour in a baking bowl with the dry yeast, rolled oats and salt until well blended. Add apple juice, agave syrup and oil and knead the dough until it no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl (add a little more juice if necessary). Let rest covered for at least 30 minutes.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll the dough into small balls, flatten them, fill each with a piece of chocolate, fold the edges of the dough over and shape into small oval “rats”. Press 2 almond flakes into each dough rat as ears. Place on the prepared baking tray and put into the cold (!) oven.

Turn oven on to 200 °C and bake the rats for 25-30 minutes. Leave to cool on the tray.

In the meantime, mix cocoa powder with oat flakes for the decoration. Heat the apricot jam.

Brush the cooled rats all around with warm jam and immediately roll in the cocoa-oat mixture until they look “dirty” all around. Place two red sugar beads as eyes on the front end of each, and insert thin sugar strings as tails on the back end.

Allow dirty Halloween rats to dry completely.
