Rinse peppers, clean and cut into longitudinal strips. Cut tomatoes and put them briefly into boiling water, then peel and roughly dice. Remove the skin from the onions, halve them and cut them into slices. Heat lard in a saucepan and fry the diced bacon in it. Add the onion slices and let them turn yellow. Sprinkle paprika powder on top and stir quickly so that it does not burn (tastes bitter!). Add the bell pepper strips and finally the tomatoes, season with salt and continue to steam for 10 minutes with the lid open.

Serve with buttered pogatschen or long grain rice.
