For the mackerel casserole, boil the potatoes in salted water, peel and slice.

Skin the mackerel, remove the bones and cut into pieces, cut the tomatoes into slices. Layer the potato and tomato slices and the fish pieces alternately (top layer potatoes) in a greased baking dish.

Lightly salt and pepper the vegetables. Whisk the sour cream with the eggs, chives, salt, pepper and nutmeg and pour over the top.

Sprinkle with cheese and butter flakes. Bake at 200° for about 35 minutes.

Serve the mackerel casserole.
