Preheat the oven to 170 °C. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites with the granulated sugar until stiff. Mix the yolks well with the powdered sugar, vanilla sugar and oil.

Mix the flour with the baking powder and fold into the yolk mixture with the sour cream. Mix well and fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.

Brush the pan well with softened butter and spread the grated hazelnuts evenly on the butter, this prevents the cake from sticking later.

Now pour a good 2/3 of the dough into the gugelhupfform, mix the last 1/3 with the cocoa powder until it looks nice and “chocolaty”.

Spread the chocolate batter on top of the light batter and with the handle of a spoon, prick the batter once and draw a circle.

Bake in the oven for about 50 minutes. Remove from the mold, let cool and serve the marble Kugelhupf sprinkled with powdered sugar best with coffee.
