Total time: 45 min

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Soak the halved peas in double the mass of water for one night. Then drain them. Grind the peas in a hand mixer. Add just enough fresh water to make a very thick mush. Pour the mush into a large enough bowl and stir in half of each of the spices plus 1 tsp. salt. Stir well and set aside. Melt the remaining salt, except for 1 tsp. in the were water and set aside. Heat the ghee in a karhai over medium heat. With moistened hands, form small flat dumplings from the paste and place them in the hot ghee. While frying, turn the baras over 1-2 times until they are nicely browned on all sides. Then take them out and soak them in the salted water for at least 15 min. Put the yogurt with the remaining spices and the remaining salt in a large enough bowl and mix well. Remove the soaked baras from the water and place in a serving bowl form. Pour the seasoned yogurt over them and bring to the table.

Soaking time: overnight plus 15 min in salt water.

Tip: Use regular or light yogurt as needed!
