For the pickled cherries, pit the cherries, mix well with the sugar in a bowl, cover and leave to soak overnight.

Pour in red wine, sprinkle in cinnamon and bring everything to a boil while stirring. Remove cherries from the heat and pour in the brandy. Pour the mixture into preserving jars, seal airtight and store the preserved cherries upside down.
