For the pumpkin gnocchi, first steam the pumpkin cubes with a little water until they break down. Strain through a hair sieve and let cool. Mix in the egg and flour until a firm dough is formed. Add the baking powder.
In a tall saucepan, bring salted water to a boil in sufficient quantity. Scrape dough from a wet board with a palette or the back of a knife until finger thick (about 2 cm dumplings) directly into the boiling salted water. Simmer for about 8 minutes and lift out.
Sprinkle the pumpkin dumplings with chopped pumpkin seeds as well as grated cheese and generously pour over brown butter.
