Carefully rinse and clean strawberries. Cut large fruit in half or quarters, mix with sugar in a baking bowl and refrigerate, covered, for 2 hours. Crush peppercorns in a mortar. Strain strawberries in a sieve. Mix juice with vinegar. Arrange strawberries in portions. Pour juice over them, sprinkle with pepper and sprinkle thinly with powdered sugar.
