A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Remove the peel from the onion and apples, finely dice them and sauté them in 2/3 of the lard until soft.

Add the slightly chopped sauerkraut and sauté lightly as well. Extinguish with white wine and cook at low temperature for about half an hour.

Then cool down.

Make a pasta dough with the flour, eggs and a pinch of salt and let it rest for about 1 hour.

Now roll it out thinly and spread the sauerkraut evenly on it.

Then roll up the pasta and cut it into slices about 5 cm thick.In an ovenproof baking dish, melt the remaining lard and add the chopped shallots lightly.

Sauté the chopped shallots in it until lightly browned.

Add the cabbage fritters, without them touching, and brush with a little butter.

Bake in a heated oven at 150 degrees for about 25 minutes.

Before serving, perhaps quench with a little strong soup. **
