For the wedding dumplings, mix the eggs, butter and spices and pour over the bread, add the remaining ingredients, knead the dough well first with a wooden spoon and then by hand, form round, wrap in a wet, oiled cloth napkin and tie loosely.

Place in boiling salted water, weight down with plate or lid if necessary, and cook for about 40 minutes.

Unwrap the dumpling from the napkin, tear the top slightly with two forks, place some diced tomatoes in the hollow and pour melted butter over it.

If desired, sprinkle with finely chopped parsley or chives and garnish with finely grated cheese.
