Put the wheat flour and the wheat groats in a suitable bowl and mix. Make an indentation and crumble the yeast into it. Stir the yeast with 1 tsp. sugar, 5 tbsp. lukewarm milk and a little bit of flour to form a steam. Cover the baking dish with a dishcloth. Let the dampfl rise for 20 to 30 minutes.

Add remaining milk, salt and caraway seeds to the dampfl form. Mix all ingredients to a smooth dough. Knead the dough well with your hands for 10 to 15 min.

Form the dough into a ball. Place on a greased baking sheet, flatten a little. Cover with a large kitchen towel. Let the dough rise at room temperature (20 to 25 °C ) for 30 to 40 min.

Bake the bread in a heated oven at 200 °C for 50 to 60 min. Put a mug of hot water in the oven.

With this coarse bread your teeth must work heartily.
